Really like the look of the new Tahoe but not sure I like it for $74,000. These things were never cheap but damn thats a lot of money. Just for kicks I checked out the price of the new Escalades. They’re selling for about the same price.

Large SUVs are status symbols. Can’t show off how much money you want people to think you have if just anyone can buy one new.

I guess that explains why I don’t see nearly as many of this generation on the road. Or the residents of the greater Tacoma area just aren’t into SUVs like elsewhere... The world may never know.

And yet my 5 year old BMW that I bought used for $27k probably registers more on the “that’s a snobby vehicle” reaction scale than a brand new Tahoe that sells for almost 3x the price.

Holy fuck that’s absurd. That’s new nice truck and a new miata and trailer price.

There’s plenty of places that you could buy a decent house for that price!

My first house in Michigan was just a couple grand shy of this and it was only 5 years old when i bought it, this was in 2010 so it’s not like it was forever ago.
Your statement = confirmed.

Even Sequoias are expensive.

Yeah, it’s nuts. The only way to get one under $50k is to get a base model 2wd, with zero options. I love them, but I just can’t justify the sacrifice that would require.

And people think land cruiser are over priced. But seriously, I had a cousin just drop over 80 large on a Yukon Denali.

Dat depreciation doe. Approaching $100k + Rubbish badge = MSRP disintegrates in orbit. You don’t even have to wait for used; NEW Tahoes one model year behind are already below $40k. The people getting these things new must be so rich they don’t have any damns at all to give about their money because short of setting it on fire, there isn’t much more you could do to destroy it.

This means that you could pick up a previous gen Escalade Platinum for much less, with most if not all of the same features as this Tahoe.
I found this one for 40k near me: http://bham.craigslist.org/ctd/5789519828.html

The used market seems to be a savior for people. A fully loaded 2015 Tahoe LTZ went for 49,900 recently at my job

Can confirm people pay stupid money for these things. I work for a large used car dealer network and know for a fact at least 2 customers have paid over MSRP for a Tahoe when they first came out. By first came out I mean less than 6 months after release.

Probably but the way these have climbed in price there are probably areas where this is more of an aspirational vehicle than any BMW

They’re ridiculous... My mom just picked up an LTZ for a decent price, but people are often surprised at just how much they are, especially in the context of a Q7, X5, etc.
Side note, I think the new Suburban looks twice as good as the Tahoe. Something about that roof line just brings it all together.

I swear, my parents have this issue. You only have 2 kids, one an adult, and the other a teenager. You don’t need an Escalade ESV and a Yukon XL.

a land cruiser is so much more truck for your money too
